Already Been Diagnosed for Your Headache or Migraines?
If you are like most people with chronic headaches and migraines then you’ve already seen one or more health care practitioners looking for answers to explain your pain. Some patients we see here at the Center have experienced headache pain or migraine pain for years and have seen countless providers. Most of these conditions, once evaluated, exhibit neuromuscular force relationship imbalances that would NOT have come up on standard provider examinations. You’ve likely received some kind of formal headache or migraine diagnosis — perhaps multiple diagnoses spanning numerous practitioners across a variety of medical disciplines. However, getting diagnosed by a doctor for your headaches or migraines doesn’t mean much if they can’t help you truly understand WHY you have them. Surprisingly few providers understand headaches and migraines beyond the medications they prescribe to temporarily mask pain symptoms.
Why Traditional Headache & Migraine Diagnoses Aren't Enough
To further complicate things, it it too frequently the case that a provider will under-diagnose or misdiagnose a more complex headache or migraine condition, citing sinus problems as the culprit. It is unfortunate that more providers do not spend time carefully investigating the neuromuscular relationships of the Stomatognathic System for answers because that’s where the root causes for most headache and migraine problems can be found.
The reality is, many health care practitioners are not comprehensively trained to diagnose complex headache and migraine conditions. They may call it as they see it, but what do they actually see? Are they telling you ‘this may be the problem’ or ‘that can sometimes cause these conditions’, or did you get a firm answer and explanation based on the root cause? What were the root causes?
The Stomatognathic System is essentially your mouth, jaws, and their closely associated structures. Problems within this system can explain a substantial number of headache and migraine conditions.
This lack of clinical training and experience is through no fault of their own. In most circumstances, headache and migraine conditions are not the subjects of intense study at medical schools. In fact, what is a major focus of study is the application of pharmacological solutions for pain management. This is deeply problematic, as it clearly explains why the predominant approach to headache and migraine pain mitigation is STILL medication.
It's Time to Rethink Your Headache & Migraine Diagnosis
If you’ve grown tired of throwing medications at your headache and migraine pain you would not be the first! You won’t be the last, either. Until the headache and migraine treatment paradigm shifts dramatically in the greater healthcare community you can expect drugs that mask symptoms to be the prevalent solution to headache and migraine pain. However, there’s no reason you have to wait for things to change because a new way of addressing headache and migraine pain is already available.
At the New Jersey Headache Relief Center we are using leading-edge computer-based technologies to diagnose the REAL root causes for headache and migraine pain. In the majority of cases, root causes for pain and dysfunction are often bite force problems in the dentomandibular complex. These types of neuromuscular force imbalances can be rehabilitated if located, and we have the headache and migraine diagnostic tools to do it.
Remember that not every doctor is a headache specialist or migraine doctor. Headache and migraine sufferers do not have access to these kinds of diagnostic tools and treatment protocols through the vast majority of health care providers — only a trained and experienced neuromuscular dentist can do this.
